What is the best smoking sign material for outside?

Our screen printed aluminum signs have terrific outdoor durability. They are overcoated and are very strong. The subsurface printed architectural quality no smoking signs are also exceptionally durable. Please contact our customer service experts and we would be delighted to help you determine the best smoking sign material for your application.

How do static cling No Smoking signs or labels work?

These work through electromagnetism. Heavily plasticized vinyl is relatively positively charged and this is attracted to the relatively negative charges found on a metal or glass surface. Static cling labels do not require traditional rubber or acrylic adhesives.

How do I remove one of the adhesive No Smoking signs or labels?

Many of our label materials are semi-permanent – they can be removed by just lifting a corner. Our static cling labels, for example, are easily removable. Our permanent adhesive labels require a bit of work to remove. Start by heating the label. Wait for the sun to hit the label or use a hair dryer. Start with a corner of the label. Many use their fingernail; a knife or even thin credit card works well, too. Once the label is stripped away, you can use regular rubbing alcohol to remove any residue of adhesive remaining. For really tough applications, a small dab of nail polish remover (acetone) can be used.

My No Smoking signs got stolen. Is there another No Smoking sign material that is less likely to be stolen next time?

There are several good solutions that you might review. For No Smoking signs going on chain link signs, consider using our tamper-proof “Fence Clips”. Vandal cannot easily steal your signs. Also note that that aluminum signs are often the target of scrap metal vandals. See if nearby parking and traffic signs are subject to the same kinds of theft. If so, consider one of the rigid plastic sign materials. For office applications, consider a “reverse printed” sign that goes on the inside of a window. That way, your sign is tough to steal. Or, consider the use of one of our vinyl pressure sensitive signs. These often break apart if a vandal tries to remove it.

There are different symbols used for “No Smoking”. Which one is correct?

There is no one symbol that is best. We, in fact, have two distinct symbols. Plus, there are countless other “combination” symbols that show a cigarette along with other prohibited activities (i.e. no smoking plus no drinking plus no eating . . . . .). Also note that we use one of the symbols without the traditional red circle and cross mark to show that smoking is allowed in a certain area.

The doors to the office are already cluttered with messages. Do you have any recommendations?

Yes, this can be a big problem. Without a consistent design, important messages may get lost and trivial ones assume exaggerated importance. The example here shows how both stock and custom signs are arranged in a logical hierarchy.

How do I fasten the No Smoking signs to a fence?

Use our inexpensive fence clips. They come in pairs. For most people, fastening a sign with our clips is actually a 'one person affair'.

This may sound ridiculous, but why would anyone want a sign that says Smoking is Allowed?

We get this question all of the time, so don’t feel that your question is unreasonable. Maintenance engineers have repeatedly told us that placing a Smoking Allowed here sign actually has more impact than the negative – Smoking is Prohibited (in other areas). The result is less trash, cleaner facilities and fewer maintenance headaches.
